Man accused of stabbing ex-partner

A 24-year-old Dunedin man will face charges in a Christchurch court today in connection with the stabbing of his former partner.

Police were called to a house in suburban Tainui about 8.40pm yesterday, Senior Sergeant Bruce Ross said.

A 38-year-old woman had been stabbed in the head, torso and leg. Her wounds were not life threatening.

The man gave himself up to Sydenham police in Christchurch at 2.30am today.

He was due to appear in Christchurch District Court this morning, Mr Ross said.
