KEY POINTS:
A North Canterbury man accused of raping a teenager faced an extra charge in Christchurch District Court today.
The 39-year-old man was charged today with unlawfully possessing explosives - powergel and detonators - between January 1 and November 10.
The rape is alleged to have happened on November 10.
He has yet to plead to the rape charge and wasn't required to enter a plea to the explosives charge at his brief appearance today.
Judge John Bisphan remanded the man in custody to November 26.
