KEY POINTS:
Police have charged a man with murder after discovering a body at a Northland house early this morning.
Police said the 30-year-old man was arrested at the property would appear in Whangarei District Court today.
The man's body was discovered after emergency services were called to a house at the small settlement of Mangapai, 19km south of Whangarei around 1.25am.
Whangarei police earlier refused to confirm a report that the man may have been involved in a fight.
They said more details would be revealed later today.
Police were this morning interviewing local people to try and ascertain what happened while forensic scientists were on their way to examine the house.
