A man arrested overnight after his baby was allegedly found alone in his car while he visited a Wellington strip club has appeared in court.
Police said they were contacted after a member of the public found the one-year-old in a car parked near Courtenay Place, in the central city, about 3am.
The baby was taken to hospital and the 42-year-old father was arrested a short time later after he was discovered in a strip club.
Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Young said the man was initially charged on an outstanding arrest warrant, but would face a further charge of leaving a child under 14 without reasonable supervision when he reappeared in Wellington District Court on Monday.
