A 27-year-old New Plymouth man will appear in court on Thursday charged with the manslaughter of a woman runner and dumping her body in the back seat of a car.
The man was due in New Plymouth District Court today charged over the death of Anne Elizabeth McCullough, 45, whose body was found on Saturday but his appearance was adjourned, police said.
Ms McCullough was believed to have been running in a rural area near Frankley Rd, New Plymouth when she was hit by a vehicle between 1.30pm and 2pm on Saturday.
She was found about 2.30pm in the back seat of a car near a place known as Meeting of the Waters, south of New Plymouth.
Police were appealing for information about a distinctive purple 1987 Holden Commodore sedan with mag wheels that was driven around New Plymouth on Saturday afternoon, Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward said.
