KEY POINTS:
A man who allegedly kidnapped a 15-year-old boy in an attempt to recruit him to the Mongrel Mob will stand trial.
Katiana Tawa Kereopa, 33, allegedly detained the boy after coercing him into a car in Tay St, Invercargill on August 31.
The victim gave evidence at a depositions hearing in Invercargill District Court yesterday.
He said Kereopa had yelled at him until he got in the car, then told him he was being "prospected" and he was wanted to "steal stuff", the Southland Times reported today.
The boy later escaped.
Both justices of the peace found Kereopa had a case to answer and remanded him in custody to reappear on February 9.
