The man accused of a prolonged rape attack of a Pukekohe woman has been committed for trial at a depositions hearing today.
Roger Tira Kahui, 36, faces 25 charges involving rape, indecent assault, kidnap and threatening to kill following an attack on the 37-year-old woman in her Pukekohe home on June 13.
Crown prosecutor Richard Marchant told Pukekohe District Court today the accused allegedly knocked on the woman's door asking to use the telephone about 8.45pm.
Her attacker then forced his way into her home and subjected her to a "protracted and terrorising" five-hour sexual attack, where she had to keep a pillow case over her head and was made to shower after she was raped.
Judge Roy Wade granted a suppression order on any further details surrounding the case to ensure the defendant receives a fair trial.
Kahui, unemployed from Pukekohe, was remanded in custody until he appears in the High Court in Auckland October 18 for his hearing date.
