A NZ Defence Force member has accidentally shot himself in the leg during a training exercise at Linton Military Camp in Manawatu.
The man was a member of a group of navy and air force personnel undertaking a range shoot as part of pre-deployment training, when he "appears to have discharged his weapon, injuring himself in the leg'', said a Defence Force spokesperson.
The accident happened on the rifle shooting range at Linton Military Camp.
The man was taken to Palmerston Hospital. His injury was not believed to be life-threatening.
An investigation would be carried out, the Defence Force said.
