A coroner's report has been released into the death of a man in Napier in an attempted arson attack.
Andrew Jones died after his clothes caught alight when he intentionally set fire to hay in a shed in March this year.
In his report, coroner Christopher Devonport states the 50-year-old went to the property of his ex-wife after drinking at a local pub.
He says Mr Jones went to the property in Poraiti at night and intentionally set fire to hay in a shed.
He says Mr Jones died from effects of the fire, after his clothing caught alight.
