An 80-year-old Northland man found guilty on sexual abuse charges dating back nearly 50 years has been jailed for four years and nine months.
Richard Allan Moody, of Broadwood, Hokianga, was found guilty in November on two counts of rape and four of indecent assault on a girl between the ages of 7 and 14.
The jury heard the girl was fearful of Moody and was too scared to speak out at the time. She wrote to Moody in 1989 begging him to admit what he had done but he refused.
