A 57-year-old Masterton man has appeared in court accused of using a telephone to make a fictitious call to emergency services.
The man, who has been granted interim name suppression, appeared before Justice of the Peace Peter Debney.
Police prosecutor Garry Wilson opposed name suppression when the defendant appeared before the registrar in Masterton District Court earlier on Monday. It is alleged the man rang the ambulance service on February 24, saying he was having a heart attack when he was not.
Mr Debney allowed the man interim suppression of his name and details surrounding the reason.
The man was remanded on bail with a condition he not have access to a telephone.
