Education Minister Trevor Mallard says he will make a decision before the election about replacing Te Wananga o Aotearoa's council with a commissioner.
National accused him yesterday of being too scared to sack the council, but Mr Mallard said there had never been a deadline for action at the troubled tertiary education provider. "I have asked the wananga for more information and they are getting back to me and I will make a decision once that happens."
In February Mr Mallard appointed a crown observer to take over financial responsibilities from the council.
