Police are urging a mystery man bashed and kicked in the head by two schoolgirls to come forward so they can lay criminal charges.
The two students from Mt Albert Grammar School - aged 13 and 14 - were expelled this week after two violent attacks involving members of the public at the Westfield St Lukes shopping mall.
The attack on the man happened just after 5pm on Tuesday, March 14, on a concrete stairwell connecting the St Lukes carpark to the Mt Albert Library.
CCTV footage shows the two girls - and a third who is not a student at Mt Albert Grammar - hitting and kicking the man, who is obscured by a concrete wall.
Police have interviewed three men who helped the victim.
The said the middle-aged Indian man did not fight back, but had his hands held up to defend himself.
A girl aged about 4, believed to be his daughter, cried as she looked on.
Balmoral community constable Stuart Mottashed said it was difficult for the two girls to be prosecuted because the victim had not come forward, so there was no official complaint.
There was no sound on the CCTV footage of the attack, which lasted up to a minute.
The incident followed another violent incident at the mall, involving the same two girls.
They were involved in a brawl with at least two other girls and a member of the public.
Mt Albert Grammar board has ruled the pair should be excluded. Principal Dale Burden said this week he agreed that police should lay charges against both girls.
