A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries this afternoon after being hit by a car in Takapuna.
A police spokesman said emergency services were called to reports a person had been hit by a vehicle at Lake Rd on Auckland's North Shore, just past 3pm.
A 50-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Auckland Hospital with "life-threatening injuries", a St John spokeswoman said.
Auckland Transport said Lake Rd was closed between Eversleigh Rd and Jutland Rd, and diversions were in place.
The road has now been reopened but traffic is still extremely heavy in the area.
