Makoura College earned six awards at the Stage Challenge 2015 for their performance at Palmerston North last week.
Stage Challenge is an annual high school rock extravaganza across New Zealand, with students dancing to rock music, showcasing a moral and societal theme, particularly around the concerns of students.
Makoura, who fielded a 72-student cast, won awards for sound work, concept, drama, performance skills and school initiative. Co-ordinator Janine Tupaea said their theme was "Imperfections and perfections".
"It starts off with a young girl watching a beauty pageant on a big TV screen.
"It makes her feel like she's not good enough. But with help from a couple of close friends, she manages to realise she is beautiful in her own right."
