Auckland Zoo is encouraging Easter treat buyers to look for palm oil-free products.
It has concerns for the endangered Sumatran orangutan killed in fires reportedly lit by palm oil companies.
Director of Auckland Zoo Jonathan Wilcken says the zoo has published a palm oil-free Easter goodie guide on its website.
"Which will tell you exactly which chocolate eggs or chocolate products are palm oil free and so which ones you can buy and keep your conscience clear that you're not contributing to the loss of habitat for orangs."
Mr Wilcken says people can help save orangutans by choosing Easter eggs carefully.
