A major fire in Northland is still burning.
Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says the blaze at Pouto has covered more than 200 hectares but it's being contained.
He says there are 32 fire crew at the scene, heavy machinery and helicopters are on standby and they are continuing with strengthening containment lines.
Jaron Phillips says the fire is being held back within 50 metres of the perimeter area.
