Bowls Wairarapa have staged two of their major events over the past two weeks, the Wairarapa open fours for both men and woman, sponsored by Trust House.
A disappointing number of 10 entries contested both events and these included four composite sides in the women's competition.
Three teams qualified for post-section play in the women's championship and round one saw Kevana Smith's team beat Avis Cooper's team to earn the right to play Kathy Jones from Lower Hutt in the final.
In the final it was Smith who took the honours with other members of the successful side being Robyn Schischka (who picked up her gold star for five centre titles), Helen Rimene and Maria Steffert.
In the men's competition five teams qualified for post-section play, the successful skips being Bev Entwhisle, John Polson, Mark Noble (Silverstream), Ian Monaghan and Peter McGillcuddy.
In the end it was the Masterton club combination of Monaghan, Ray Daysh, Bill Nicholson and Warren Fisher who took the title.
Lansdowne club played their junior men's singles championship with Keith Merwood taking the honours from Richard Whitley.
Jean Paku and Helen Rimene combined to win the women's pairs title at Lansdowne and runners-up were Susan Sherwood and Marie Devonshire. The men's pairs went to Ron Monaghan and Tom McKay from Gordon Manley and Richard Whitley.
