A bomb threat to an unnamed Government department resulted in a mail plane being diverted to Palmerston North last night.
A man was arrested in Napier in connection with the threat and will appear in court today.
Inspector Mike Coleman, from the Central Police Communications Centre, said a Government department received a call to say "an incendiary device" had been put in the mail.
New Zealand Post was notified and tracked the mail batch, which was found to be en route to Wellington by plane.
