The Wellington postie who dumped thousands of mail items - including election voter packs - has been fired, and had his case referred to police.
"Following a thorough investigation and disciplinary process, the Wellington postie who was stood down following the non-delivery of mail in Maupuia, including a number of local body election voter packs, has been dismissed," an NZ Post spokesman said.
"The matter will be referred to the police."
Late last month NZ Post discovered thousands of dumped mail items that should have been delivered to the Miramar Peninsula suburb of Maupuia.
About 3000 items of mail, including 667 local body election voting forms, were found.
