Posties are back on the beat in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield, after deliveries were stopped following a gang shooting.
New Zealand Post stopped mail deliveries to three streets in the last Friday, fearing for the safety of its staff.
Mail deliveries were stopped on Tennyson Rd, Emerson Pl and Dryden Rd, after eight people were arrested following what was believed to be a gang-related shooting on Tennyson Rd.
NZ Post spokeswoman Fiona Mayo said today there was not a mountain of mail that had accumulated during blockade.
"This was not a high volume area - there are only about 100 letters waiting to be delivered. We have not had to get on any extra posties," she said.
This was the first time the mail had been stopped because of gang violence, she said.
Dangerous dogs were the more usual reason for deliveries to be put on hold.
