Wellingtonians were rattled awake by a “moderate” earthquake this morning.
The magnitude 3.9 quake was centred 10km east of Lower Hutt, at a depth of 14km.
After the 6.32am tremor, more than 7400 people reported to Geonet they had felt shaking.
Most reports were centred around Wellington but there were reports as far north as Auckland and as far south as Christchurch.
