A medal haul of three gold and three silver was a magnificent result for the six-strong Featherston Wrestling Club contingent at the North Island amateur wrestling championships in Hamilton.
Gold medals were won by Manaea Wilkie, Caine Osborne and Dylan Duffy with the silvers going to Thomas Uatuku, Wade Lovett and Tristan Williams.
And the icing on the cake was provided by Dylan Duffy also taking out the most scientific prize in the 10-13yrs age group which involved some 25 wrestlers.
Coaches Peter Lovett and Bevan Thurston were, not surprisingly, delighted by the success of their squad who also benefited from the presence of one of the country's top referees Wayne Thurston.
Club secretary Joanne Duffy said the next big assignment for the promising youngsters is the national championships in August and fund raising efforts are already under way in that regard.
The Featherston club has a membership of about 25 taking in the South Wairarapa towns of Carterton, Greytown, Martinborough and, of course, Featherston itself.
