The Coroner said Mr Kahui was the only person near the twins when the injuries happened.
Their mother, Macsyna King, told TV3's Campbell Live in her first press interview tonight that she had been "painted as a monster''.
"Somebody who didn't give a damn, who paid no attention. I loved my children, I love my children.''
Mr Evans said there was no evidence that Ms King was involved in the babies' deaths.
She said the cruelty, taunts and "horrible threats'' by members of the public who accused her of harming her children were all for nothing.
"This has echoed in my life for six years,'' Ms King said
She said she was grateful for the Coroner's findings and his comments that police had charged the right person.
Ms King said she had always helped the police with their investigation.
"I told them where I was, who I was with and what I did after ... I have always been upfront with them.''
The night the twins were hurt Ms King had left them with Mr Kahui to have a bit of time out and for the three to spend time together.
Evidence given at the inquest showed Ms King had been looking after the twins well and they were "thriving''.
"I find it really hard to be able to express the love I have for my children, because they are dead.
"It's really really important to say to people how much I love my sons and how much work I put into them.
"I'm not the world's best mother, but I loved and cared for them and would do anything for them.''
Ms King said when she realised the children were not alright she took them to the doctors before Mr Kahui drove them home.
She said he refused to take the babies to the hospital.
"I drove myself to Middlemore.
"In my mind he (Mr Kahui) knew something had happened, but he didn't tell me.''
While she was at the hospital, Ms King knew something was wrong when the twins were rushed away for treatment.
"I can still recall it like it happened yesterday.''
She said when Mr Kahui was acquitted of the babies' deaths, people blamed her for the deaths.
"I feel like I'm a thing, a disgusting filthy thing that has done wrong ... if this was the time of Jesus Christ I would have been stoned to death ... I'm innocent.''

Ms King's lawyer Marie Dyhrberg said an "uncontrolled mob mentality'' caused people to point the finger of blame with no evidence whatsoever.
"It just took on a life of its own.''
She said there was an unwarranted prejudice that the mother should be with her children at all times.
"What about the father?''
Ms Dyhrberg said the Coroner's findings come as no surprise.
"She knew herself that she did not injure those twins, now everyone will know that.''
She said New Zealanders should feel a "collective shame'' over how Ms King was treated.
It is unlikely Mr Kahui will be retried for the crimes because of the "double jeopardy'' laws.
Police have said they need to consider the evidence given at the Coroner's inquest before deciding if they will charge him with lesser charges.
