Police are on the hunt for a machete-wielding man, who robbed a Waitara Four Square last night.
The man, wearing a balaclava and dark clothing, stole cigarettes and a small amount of cash from the Taranaki superette and service station at around 9:30pm.
Detective Sergeant Brent Matuku says the tenants were left traumatised, but unharmed.
"Definitely the public will be able to help us. Waitara's a small town. Someone's likely to know this offender. Perhaps they've got first-hand knowledge of who the person is or they'll have some feelings about maybe one of the associates."
The Four Square was also the target of an aggregated robbery in August, which Detective Sergeant Matuku believes is unrelated to this event.
