Two people were rescued by another boat when their dinghy capsized near Lyttelton this afternoon.
The Lyttelton Coastguard was called to the scene but by the time it had arrived the two people had been plucked to safety by another dinghy nearby, Inspector Alan Weston said.
The incident unfolded shortly before 12.30pm at Purau Bay on the Banks Peninsula, opposite Lyttelton Harbour.
