Property developer Mark Lyon will wear an electronic bracelet keeping him under 24-hour surveillance as part of his bail conditions.
The 49-year-old was remanded to an undisclosed address, after being charged with firearms and drug offences.
He can leave the address only for medical help, to see his lawyer or to attend court. He must also avoid any contact with police witnesses.
At the hearing at the Auckland District Court yesterday, Judge Robert Kerr said Lyon would meet the cost of the bracelet. He would also stay in custody until it could be fitted.
The charges relate to two incidents - one last Sunday; and one on Tuesday, which sparked an armed offenders squad call-out. Lyon faces a count of assaulting property developer Brent Douglas Clode, a former Olympic kayaker, with intent to injure him.
He is also charged with possession of the Class B drug Ecstasy; of having a samurai sword and a hunting knife with intent to use the weapons; and of carrying an air pistol and presenting it to a member of the public.
He will reappear on October 13.
