KEY POINTS:
Actress Lucy Lawless is about to launch a new career as a rock singer in the United States.
A fan website says her Los Angeles debut concert at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday has already sold out.
An additional show has been added for the following night.
Lawless finished second on the recent Fox television network series Celebrity Duets where she performed with singers Smokey Robinson and Dionne Warwick.
"I've become a junkie for live performance. I can't get enough," the 38-year-old told the website.
Lawless began singing here and toured with Dave Dobbyn in the summer of 2003.
She said earlier this month her plans to hit the gym over six weeks to transform from "frump to fabulous" were sabotaged by a Christmas trip home.
"Usually, I go home a broken shell of a woman and this time was no exception, only now I didn't have the will power to resist all those great Kiwi sweets, custard tarts, chocolate and biscuits that I have loved since I was a child," she wrote. "Naturally, the relaxation spread to my waist."
Lawless had a high profile on television for six years with two hit series, Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess, and has gone on to acting roles in the science fiction series, Battlestar Galactica, and some made-for-TV films.
