KEY POINTS:
As far as lucky 7s go, they don't get much luckier than Sharon Poihega's new baby.
Born on Saturday - the day dubbed the luckiest of the century because of its 7/7/7 date - the little girl arrived at 7am, weighing just over 7lb (3.5kg).
"She's determined to be in the 7s," said Ms Poihega.
The hype around the July 7, 2007 date saw couples around the globe try to time their baby to arrive on the day. Thousands of others flocked to the altar, including Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and her basketballer beau Tony Parker.
For Ms Poihega's little one, the timing was simply lucky.
While the Mt Wellington family might be in seventh heaven now, the excitment around the day had largely passed them by.
The new arrival, Ms Poihega's fourth child, was due on July 4 but was three days late.
On Friday, the family started to wonder whether the baby would arrive on the auspicious date.
At 3am on Saturday morning, Ms Poihega went into labour and was taken to National Women's Hospital.
Ms Poihega said the baby's father, Lou Patii, started watching the clock just after 5am after their midwife Mary Bowie suggested the baby might arrive at 7am. "I didn't think I'd last that long," she said.
The hospital was "buzzing" after the child arrived safely and alert, with a head of thick black hair.
The little one is yet to be named and is being called "Seven" while the family decides. "I think it will stick but only as a nickname," said Ms Poihega.
And a knack for catchy birthdates seems to run in the family. Ms Poihega's niece Angel Limatau was born on March 3, 2003.
