A Lower Hutt school says it is considering scrapping it's school ball, but not because of binge drinking.
St Oran's College has proposed the cancellation of the ball in favour of a leavers dinner just for year 13 students.
Currently the ball is run for both year 12 and year 13.
An article in the Dominion Post today claims the cancellation is because of concerns balls have become dangerous, outdated and stressful.
But principal Dawn Ackroyd says while balls are becoming outdated, the move isn't because of bad behaviour.
