A drunk driver crashed his car into another then tried to pee in a public garden while police were speaking to him.
Pule Taualapiu was driving on Treadwell St in Naenae, Lower Hutt on October 30 while he was more than four times over the legal alcohol limit, police prosecutor Chris Hunt told Hutt Valley District Court yesterday.
Taualapiu turned onto Rata St and ended up on the wrong side of the road. Hunt said an oncoming vehicle swerved to avoid Taualapiu's car, but could not avoid a crash.
Hunt said Taualapiu "attempted to urinate in a public garden while talking to police" after the crash.
His breath alcohol level was 1046mcg. The legal limit is 250mcg.
