A man who attacked a 13-year-old girl as she walked home from school in Lower Hutt on Friday could be responsible for the attempted abduction of another girl a few weeks before, police say.
Detective Sergeant Mike Sears said the driver of a dark-coloured vehicle approached the latest victim as she walked along Myrtle St about 3.15pm.
He grabbed her arm, but she managed to break free and run away.
The victim described the man as dark skinned, skinny, about 185cm tall. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, jeans and jandals. His face was covered by his hood.
"We are asking for help from any witnesses. If you were in the area at the time or have seen a black saloon with a rear spoiler and white markings, or damage on the bonnet, please contact us immediately," Mr Sears said.
