A century after he was born, a memorial has been unveiled at the birthplace of Jack Lovelock, who won gold in the 1500m at the 1936 Berlin Olympics - New Zealand's first track and field gold medal.
The memorial at Crushington, south of Reefton, features a galvanised metal silhouette of Lovelock running.
