Lotto winner hid ticket in husband's undie drawer

A woman who has won half a million dollars in Lotto thought the safest place for the winning ticket was her husband's undie drawer.

She says, if anyone was going to break in and steal something, men's undies would be less appealing than a ladies' knicker drawer.

The winners were visiting Paihia when they bought the ticket.

The woman says, when her husband read out the winning numbers, she thought he was joking and threw the ticket in the bin.

After confirming the win, the couple hopped on a plane to Wellington to pick up the cash. They intend paying off their mortgage and investing the rest.
