The school girls who caused a major land and air search in the lower Kaimai Ranges last night, are now back at the school camp they went missing from.
The Tauranga Intermediate students went missing yesterday afternoon, while on a exercise looking at flora and fauna on a loop walking track in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park.
The school camp was shut down while the search was under way.
The girls were eventually found around 8pm, and reunited with their parents at midnight.
Tauranga Intermediate Principal Brian Diver said the girls have arrived back at the Ngamuwahine Lodge, owned by the intermediate school, to rejoin classmates.
