KEY POINTS:
PARIS - France's L'Oreal , the world's largest cosmetics maker, said on Thursday 2006 sales rose 8.7 per cent as core European markets returned to growth and affirmed its guidance for full year earnings.
The maker of Giorgio Armani perfumes, Maybelline makeup and Garnier shampoos said sales in the 12 months to December 31 rose to 15.79 billion euros ($29.89 billion), a like-for-like increase of 5.8 per cent including Britain's Body Shop business bought in June.
"These good figures mean that we can confirm our profit targets," Chief Executive Officer Jean-Paul Agon said in a statement.
