Tourism executives and British media have been captivated by the Location Guide to the Lord of the Rings.
Ian Brodie, curator of the Wanaka Warbirds Museum, wrote the earthly guide to locations featured in Peter Jackson's film adaptation of the Tolkien trilogy.
The book has sold 75,000 copies since November and has been at the top of the New Zealand bestseller chart for 16 consecutive weeks.
Two weeks ago Brodie was flown to Germany for the weekend for a VIP dinner with Tourism New Zealand.
