Longley got in with 'wrong crowd'

Emily Longley was sent back to Britain seven months ago to begin a new life after she got in with the "wrong crowd" in New Zealand but now the 17-year-old's body has been discovered amid suggestions of a drug and alcohol overdose.

The aspiring model's body was found over the weekend at the detached home of her on-off boyfriend 19-year-old Elliot Turner, the Daily Mail reported today.

Mr Turner and another 17-year-old man have been arrested and bailed without any charges being laid. They reportedly spent time with Miss Longley the day before her death.

British police have suggested she may have taken drugs and played down the role of a stalker after reports Miss Longley complained on Facebook about a man who kept calling her and "knew everything about her". A Dorset police spokesman said the death remained "unexplained" pending toxicology reports.

Miss Longley was born in London and moved to Auckland eight years ago with her family. Her parents have since split up.

Father Mark Longley, managing editor of the Whakatane Beacon, is on his way to England and said he believed his daughter had died in her sleep.

"She was a beautiful girl and full of life. It is so tragic," he added.

Miss Longley's friends in New Zealand have said she "fell in with the wrong crowd" and was involved with drugs. Her parents encouraged her to enrol at a British sixth-form college in the hope it would be a fresh start.
