A woman who repeatedly honked her horn in protest at being made to wait 17 minutes while a police officer wrote a speeding ticket has beaten a charge of unreasonable use of a warning device.
Cherry Skinner had been stopped for driving at 63km/h in a 50km/h zone. She told Wellington District Court the delay meant she and her daughter missed a movie.
A police prosecutor said a JP dismissed the charge, accepting mitigating circumstances.
