Masterton businessman Rick Long has been nominated for a further term on Wairarapa District Health Board.
Mr Long first became involved in local body politics when he was elected to Masterton Licensing Trust in 1972 and he was chairman of that trust for 29 years.
He became a Masterton District councillor in 1995 and then a Greater Wellington Regional councillor for three terms.
Mr Long is now on the health board and chairs Wairarapa Community Transport Services.
That organisation was set up by him and former Masterton mayor Bob Francis to provide free transport for Wairarapa people needing to access medical facilities.
