"Baz rang and said, 'We've got your minion. When can you come and pick him up'?", said Mr Olson, who had fashioned the minions from plastic drums.
"He's in pretty good nick considering he's been in a shed this whole time. He's a bit beaten up, but he still looks happy."
The minion has sustained minor damage in his ordeal.
His body was scratched, his teeth were kicked in, one of his arms was snapped off, but Mr Olson is confident he can patch him up.
"He might need to spend a couple of months in a health spa to recuperate."
The minions, inspired by the comic-relief characters in the Despicable Me film franchise, were made for the Mitre 10 Mega float at last year's Masterton and Carterton Christmas parades.
Afterwards they were displayed outside the store entrance, where they became an instant hit with the public and "the most photographed critters in Wairarapa", said Mr Olson.
"The kids, of course, thought they were absolutely fantastic. "But one time we had a vanload of women passing through on their way to Palmy for a girls' weekend, and stopped to get a whole bunch of photos.
"People would turn around their cars to get pictures."
Since the minion went missing, Mr Olson said he had been constantly fielding questions about his welfare.
"I had customers asking me if we'd found him up until last week.
"People were pretty pissed off he was taken," he said.
Mr Bysouth, who participated in the Judds Rd search with the newly established Wairarapa Stolen Motor Vehicles Squad, said a minion was the last thing he expected to find.
"When I saw him in the shed, I was so pleased.
"I'd been trying to get him back to Kim for ages.
"We are happy to say we located both stolen car parts and a minion."
Mr Olson said the minion, once he was repaired, would be displayed inside the store with his fellows.
