A lone man, carrying a gun, attempted to rob two dairies in Christchurch last night.
The first was J Mart Dairy on Opawa Rd shortly before 7pm. The man entered the shop carrying a handgun and demanded money. He left when he was challenged by the shopkeeper.
Around half an hour later the same man demanded money at another dairy on the corner of Somerset Crescent and Brougham St. But he ran off without taking anything.
The man is described as being of average height and thin build. He was wearing a distinctive dark bandanna with a skull pattern, a black beanie, dark clothing, and was carrying a black backpack.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may recognise him or have information about either of the two incidents.
