LOL! A trip to Idol finals for Hamilton teen

Schoolgirl Aimee Short has made the finals of American Idol - without singing a note.

The 15-year-old Hamilton resident is heading to Hollywood next Saturday to watch the final of the reality show after winning a competition with sister Hannah.

The prize includes flights, accommodation, entry to Disneyland, a $2000 shopping spree and a limo ride to the final for the sisters and one parent.

"It's me, Hannah and mum - it's a late Mother's Day present."

The competition was run by LOL fruit juice. Entrants had to create and photograph an Idol moment using the product's branding.
