An Auckland car dealer who is selling $25 million worth of Ferraris and supercars has been rapped over the knuckles for using the official logo of the famous Italian carmaker.
Greg Lyne says he has been besieged by rich-listers wanting to buy from the collection which includes an ItalDesign Nacza, one of only three made.
All but three of the cars are being kept in Singapore and are owned by a dealer there who used to work for the Sultan of Brunei, formerly the world's richest man.
But Lyne's website, ferraricollectionforsale.com, set up last week, came to the attention of European Automotive Imports, owned by Kiwi millionaire Neville Crichton, which owns Ferrari distribution rights in New Zealand and Australia.
Spokesman Edward Rowe said they ordered Lyne to remove Ferrari logos from the website.
"We also expressed our concern that a number of the cars listed on the website as new were up to 20 years old."
Several cars have already been sold - but Lyne refused to reveal the identity of buyers.
"Some of the buyers are very well known, wealthy individuals. They would like their private offers to be kept private."
The most valuable car in the collection is a 2004 Ferrari Enzo valued at $2.5m.
Lyne's company Lamborghini (NZ) Ltd, which operated as Greenlane Exotics & Prestige RMVT, has been placed in receivership.
