A bridge damaged by weekend flooding remains closed to all but emergency traffic.
The Maungakirikiri Bridge in the Kauaeranga Valley, east of Thames, was shunted 30cm to the side during torrential rain.
Logs jammed underneath the bridge, which crosses the Maungakirikiri Stream, and the bridge was covered in debris.
A Thames Coromandel District Council spokeswoman, Robyn Sherson, said it would be another day before the damage could be accurately assessed.
