A logging truck lost its trailer which smashed through a safety barrier and into Otago Harbour on State Highway 88 between Dunedin and Port Chalmers this morning.
Nobody was hurt in the accident, which happened at 6.30am at Blanket Bay.
Initial reports suggest the truck was the only vehicle involved.
Police had closed one lane of the road but it has now reopened with warning lights in place.
The truck has been moved off the road but the trailer remains in the harbour.
