Power has been cut to an area near Te Puke and a section of State Highway Two is closed, after a logging truck crashed and spilt logs across the road this morning.
The fully laden truck overturned on the road, west of Te Puke in Western Bay of Plenty, at about 3.45am.
The spilt logs damaged a power pole, causing power cuts to the immediate area.
Detours are in place along Te Puke Quarry Rd and Manoeka Rd to avoid the crash site.
Police are urging drivers to take care in the area as rain is making conditions difficult.
