Hamilton police are crediting local residents for the arrest of a group of gun toting thieves overnight.
Police were called to Mahana Road about midnight after residents reported a suspicious van unloading goods into a garage, Acting Sergeant Todd Hubbard said.
Police investigated and found a pistol and silencer in the van and a stolen white car in the garage.
"A follow-up search recovered another pistol with a round up the spout and a shotgun," he said.
Residents had previously reported a white car doing burnouts in the area.
Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with the vehicle and firearms, he said.
