Andrew Krukziener knows how to live life in the fast lane, but he's been nabbed for going too fast, again.
The property developer has run up nearly $1000 in speeding fines after he was clocked flooring it along Tamaki Drive and Balmoral Rd last year, and on State Highway One in March. He had previously been fined $800 for doing 103km/h along Tamaki Drive, and lost his licence in 2007.
Krukziener's lawyer, Michael Harte, appeared in the Auckland District Court on Friday to plead guilty to the four new infringements on his behalf.
The millionaire speedster was twice clocked in his family Range Rover in September on Tamaki Drive, which has a 50km/h limit, once doing 83km/h, the other time 69km/h. He followed this up by doing 69km/h in October along Balmoral Rd - another 50km/h zone - and 134km/h on State Highway One, just out of Karapiro, in March. He has been ordered to pay $840 in speeding fines and $120 court costs.
Krukziener insisted the number of speeding tickets was "not newsworthy", but admitted he found it hard to keep to 50km/h on Tamaki Drive. "My eyes are terrible and I find it hard to keep an eye on the speedo," he said. "No one does 50km along there, most people do at least 60km."
After being disqualified from driving a few years ago, he said outside the Auckland District Court the waterfront was "like a four-lane motorway" with a 50km/h zone.
But now, the father-of-two says he has slowed down.
Last year, Krukziener said he'd been "mellowed" by the birth of his son Louis, now 3, and another son Axel last year. "Fatherhood mellows you, it makes you think, 'I'm quite a different person than 20 years ago'." .
