The International Mail Centre at Auckland International Airport was this evening evacuated after a live grenade was found inside a package just before 5pm.
The Defence Force bomb squad has now for taken away the grenade for further examination.
Staff have returned to work and part of Laurence Stevens Drive that was closed has been reopened.
The mail centre is a distance from from the main airport terminals and travellers have not been affected.
